A Gort woman is celebrating her 107th birthday.
Mary O' Leary was born Mary Quinn on May 23rd, 1919 - and to put that into perspective, the Irish War of Independence was ongoing, and the First World War had ended just months earlier.
Mary was an only child and attended Boston National School and later Gort Secondary School, and worked on the family farm from a young age.
She married her husband Joe O' Leary in 1948 and they lived in Ballinlisheen until Joe passed away in 1997.
Mary then relocated to Gort, and later moved to the Little Flower Nursing Home in Labane in 2011.
Although her birthday is tomorrow, there's already been a big celebration at the nursing home, with family, friends and staff.
Mary was also thrilled to receive a special gift from President Catherine Connolly - a beautifully worded letter and a commemorative coin engraved with the iconic Galway Hooker.
She continues to enjoy speaking with visitors and staff and will tomorrow celebrate her 107th birthday with family, friends and staff.
