Just over €40,000 has been allocated for the upgrade of two playgrounds in Galway
Sliding Rock Playground at Shantalla is being awarded just shy of €20,000 for works include wheelchair accessible seesaws, sensory equipment and teenage spaces.
While just over €21,000 is going toward new play and recreation facilities for Renville Playground in Oranmore.
The allocations are part of a €600,000 funding announcement through the Government's Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation.
The scheme offers funding of up to €22,000 per project, an investment that will see positive impacts delivered to children and families across the country.
The application process was open to all Local Authorities, who could each nominate one project for funding.
The awarding of this funding is contingent on the Local Authority matched funding of at least 25% of the amount provided by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality towards the project.
