Hayden's Hotel in Ballinasloe not being considered for IPAS centre

Hayden's Hotel in Ballinasloe is not actively being considered for use as an IPAS centre, and Government is not seeking any more hotels.

That's according to local TD Claire Kerrane, following a ruling from An Coimisiún Pleanála on the hotel at Dunlo Street.

It's ruled that a change of use as IPAS accommodation is exempted development and does not require planning permission.

Despite that signal, Deputy Kerrane says she has spoken with an official in the Department, who has indicated they're not looking at Hayden's now, or in the future.

Sinn Fein Deputy Kerrane says it's important that the public gets factual information.
