HSE West and North West has issued a public advisory ahead of the Easter bank holiday weekend, urging people to be aware of their healthcare options over the coming days.
It says there is traditionally increased demand during this time, and emergency departments at all hospitals will be under pressure.
People are asked to attend only in the case of genuine emergency - and for everything else, to consider alternative options.
They include out-of-hours GP services, the Roscommon Injury Unit, and community pharmacies who can supply prescription medication for common illnesses.
