HSE WEST urges vulnerable groups to get their flu vaccines as cases rise

The HSE West/North West has urged those eligible to get their flu vaccines as cases are rising earlier than usual.

This comes as the number of hospitalisations caused by influenza increased from 22 to 48.

These numbers are higher than at the same time in previous years, leading to a potentially higher number of cases this winter.

Dr Fiona McGuire, Specialist Registrar in Public Health Medicine for the HSE, says that getting vaccinated can save lives
