OPW Minister Kevin Boxer Moran is in Ballinasloe today, to discuss the long-awaited flood relief scheme for the town.
The proposed scheme has been fiercely criticised over long running delays and seemingly endless studies carried out over the past decade.
Planning permission is expected to be sought this year, but construction would be unlikely to start before 2028.
Minister Moran is in Ballinasloe today after accepting an invitation to meet with a number of local representatives and council staff.
Fine Gael Councillor Alan Harney says the scheme has to be made a top priority.
