Hundreds at Galway Port last evening as army remains on standby over fuel protests

Hundreds of people were at the Galway Port late last evening, as petrol stations were also flooded with motorists filling up their tanks throughout the day.

Restrictions were put on pumps yesterday, as demand led to reports of some filling stations across the county running out.

The Agriculture Minister will meet national farming and haulier groups this morning, with a small delegation from Galway expected to travel to Dublin.

The Irish Times reports that protestors say they're also set to join the meeting with Government Ministers

The Defence Forces remain on standby to provide assistance over the ongoing fuel protests.

The Justice Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister held a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the army yesterday to get an update.
