Department of Housing figures show there has been an increase in new home starts in Galway compared to last year.
In the city, construction on 120 new homes has begun since the start of the year - compared to just five at the same time in 2025.
Meanwhile in the county, figures show construction started on 305 new homes between January and April this year - compared to just 146 at the same time last year.
Nationally, more than 8,400 new homes have been commenced - an increase of 184 percent on last year's quarter one figure.
