Galway West by-election candidate Dr Sheila Garrity is calling for targeted energy credits.
The Independent candidate says Government needs to take urgent action to provide relief for struggling households.
She is suggesting that targeting energy credits to households below a certain income margin, such as €75,000, would ensure those who need support most get it.
Dr Sheila Garrity is also calling for significant reductions in public transport costs and a doubling of the National Childcare Scheme.

She is also saying a review of other state-implemented service charges, such as A&E charges, and fees to sit upcoming state exams should be carried out.
