Knocknacarra woman retires from RNLI after 23 years

A Knocknacarra woman has retired from service with Galway RNLI after 23 years as a crew member.

Olivia Byrne, who's also a nurse, midwife and public health nurse, spent her final day as a volunteer on Monday.

Over the years, she took part in more than 167 call-outs and has been involved in countless rescues.

Olivia has been speaking to David Nevin about why she first joined and what it meant to be part of the team.
