A local councillor says he is disappointed with the lack of response from An Post over the future of the post office in Loughrea.
There is a retirement in the current office, which has sparked worries over its future - prompting local councillors to write to An Post asking for clarity.
An Post has told Galway Bay Fm that interest in the vacant contract has been strong, and also confirmed that a postal service will remain in the area
However, Fine Gael Councillor Jimmy McClearn says their query has not yet been responded to, and they need a commitment that the office will stay on the main street in Loughrea
