Local MEP asks FSAI to intervene on Brazilian beef in school lunches

The Food Safety Authority is being called on to take steps over claims processed Brazilian beef is being used in school lunches here.

Midlands North West MEP Ciaran Mullooly says he also plans to raise the issue with Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill next week.

Brazilian beef could be banned from the EU from September, if it doesn't comply with European rules on antibiotics use in animals.

Independent Ireland MEP Mullooly says he's asked the FSAI to intervene.
