MEP for this region Ciaran Mullooly has written to EU Agricultural Commissioner Hansen setting out a 9 point Family Farm reform plan.
The Independent Ireland MEP is also urging the EU's agricultural chief to honour his commitments to simplify the Common Agricultural Policy.
He's calling for urgent and realistic reforms to ensure the viability and sustainability of family farming.
The nine proposals to reduce bureaucracy and restore fairness for farmers cover inspection thresholds, cross-reporting, single mapping system, elimination of redundant inspections, double penalties, clarity on agency responsibilities, young farmers scheme reform, consistent messaging and no retroactive rule changes.
