Local MEP says EU must ban gay conversion therapy

A local MEP says the EU must introduce a European-wide ban on gay "conversion therapies".

Conversion therapy is a pseudo-scientific practice that claims to be able to change an individuals sexual orientation.

MEP for this region, Maria Walsh, who is herself a gay woman, says some European countries have banned the practice, but Ireland has not.

Fine Gael MEP Walsh says the EU has to stand up for human rights, and ensure it's banned across the union.
