10 per cent of the Central Agricultural Policy budget must be ringfenced for young farmers.
That's the opinion of MEP for Midlands Northwest, Maria Walsh, who says that Irish farmers are facing a generational crisis.
The report will also call for increased access to land, the expansion of land mobility schemes and more ambitious support for female farmers.
The Fine Gael MEP will present a report on generational renewal to the European Agriculture committee next Tuesday.
MEP Walsh says that there is a real risk for the future of farming in Ireland.
