Local Senator to bring law forward to tackle trade tool theft

Galway Senator PJ Murphy is bringing forward a law which aims to tackle the theft of trade tools and equipment.

He plans to introduce an amendment to the Criminal Justice Act, to bring in a mandatory sentence of three years in prison.

That sentence would come into play for serious offences involving work equipment, where the theft directly prevents someone from earning a living.
