A local TD has clashed with a Government Minister in the Dáil over a ban on turf-cutting at Ardraigue, Barroughter and Clonmoylan Bogs in South-East Galway.
Sinn Fein Deputy Louis O' Hara says a High Court injunction was served on a local contractor in early 2025.
He's told the Dáil that as a result, many local families who rely on turf to heat their homes were left without supply over the Winter.
Deputy O' Hara asked Minister with responsibility, Christopher O' Sullivan, to intervene - but he said it's simply not possible to permit any cutting in the bogs.
