Galway East TD Louis O'Hara says the Government's affordable housing schemes are out of reach for many people.
He says 33 homes in Athenry, which are available for sale under the Government scheme, are genuinely not affordable to first time buyers.
The minimum price for these homes range from €340,000-€390,000, with the buyers needing to pay an extra equity stake of €85,000 is they want to own the home outright.
The Sinn Féin TD claims this is an issue with the schemes in general, and it shows that the Government parties are completely out of touch
