Galway West Sinn Fein TD Mairéad Farrell has been appointed the first woman chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
She replaces Brian Stanley, who resigned from the party after a complaint was made about him.
Deputy Farrell is the youngest chair in the history of the committee.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald says she will be "meticulous in upholding the public interest."
