A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of a young woman in Clifden
The body of 31-year-old Masumeh Manojan was found near an international protection centre on Thursday.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred at Couravoughil, Clifden between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
At a sitting which lasted less than five minutes the accused was remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear again by video link
Ali Sohrabi, aged 35, of no fixed abode, was charged with the murder of Masoumeh Jafri Manojan at a special overnight sitting of Galway District Court which lasted less than five minutes.
He did not speak during the brief sitting, and the court heard he had replied 'no' to the charge, when arrested earlier in the evening.
Free legal aid and a Persian interpreter were granted by the court.
Judge Fiona Lydon remanded Sohrabi in custody to appear by video link to Galway District Court next Wednesday
