More than half of all Ukrainians living in Galway are in employment

More than half of all Ukrainians who have arrived in Galway since the start of the war with Russia are in employment.

CSO figures show there are 3,473 employments of arrivals from Ukraine throughout the city and county.

The latest available figures show that over 5,700 Ukrainians have moved to Galway since the war broke out.

Meanwhile, when it comes to school, the vast majority of Ukrainian children of school-going age are enrolled in education here.

Nationally, 97 percent of children who can attend primary school are enrolled, while 85 percent are going to secondary school.
