Plans for a dedicated muslim burial space at Tuam cemetery will not impact on future expansion plans.
That was the message delivered by Galway County Council at a meeting of local councillors this week.
The plans have been in motion for a number of years, and it's now expected the area to be designated will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Councillors will then vote on the proposal.
Fine Gael Councillor Siobhán McHugh Ryan says the cemetery should be available for everyone in the community.
