A new community centre for Newcastle is edging closer to beginning construction.
The two-storey centre, which will include a sports hall, meeting rooms and an AstroTurf pitch, will be located in Moyola Park beside the existing Croí building.
City Councillor Eddie Hoare says formal approval has now been granted by the Department of Rural and Community Development to progress to Tender Stage.
The tender will go live in the next week and a contractor will then be appointed.

It's expected construction will begin on the project in May or June.
