Galway Bay fm newsroom - A report led by NUI Galway and Safe Ireland has found the average cost of domestic violence to a female victim during the course of her life is more than 100 thousand euro.
The Report says the overall cost to the State is 56 billion euro over a 20-year period.
The costs include health bills and legal costs, as well as the factor that many women also became homeless as a result of domestic violence.
Dr. Caroline Ford of NUI Galway says the cost of the violence and coercive control is calculated over three phases.
