Oughterard primary school teacher announced as 2026 Galway Rose

A primary school teacher from Oughterard has been selected as the 2026 Galway Rose

23 year old Jodie Kenny will represent the County at the world-renowned Rose of Tralee festival taking place from the 14th to the 18th of August.

Jodie, who is sponsored by Gannons of Clifden, was selected last night at a selection event in the Clayton Hotel in Galway.

She hopes to further her studies to become an Educational Psychologist to support children in overcoming barriers to their learning, and has also acted as a brand ambassador for a fundraising initiative which raised over €1 million for Breast Cancer Ireland.

The panel of judges were 2001 Limerick Rose Paula Gannon, 2017 Galway Rose Niamh Elwood, and 2022 International Escort of the Year Shane McHugh.
