Over 1,200 signatures on petition to improve Athenry bus and train services

More than 1,200 signatures have been gathered on a petition to improve and retain public transport services in Athenry.

It's calling for the continuation of the 6:50AM train - after the NTA confirmed there is no funding for it to remain past August, and for a bus service between Athenry and the city.

The petition - set up by Galway East TD Louis O'Hara - is aimed at Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien, Minister Sean Canney, the National Transport Authority, and Iarnród Éireann

Sinn Féin Deputy O'Hara says the number of signatures demonstrates the level of frustration and demand in the area
