Just over 500 new homes commenced in Galway city and county since the start of the year.
133 of those are in the city - with the first four months of this year close to 2025's end of year total.
Meanwhile, 373 new homes commenced in the county since the start of 2026 - an increase of 60 percent on the same time last year.
Department of Housing figures show nationally 11,000 new homes commenced - a 176 percent increase on the same time last year.

56 percent are scheme dwellings, more than a quarter are apartments and 449 are one-off units.
