More than 800 signatures have been gathered on a petition against proposed prospecting licences in the Maam area.
The licence allows the holder to explore the area for materials such as base metals, silver, gold and platinum group metals.
The petition is asking the Minister to reconsider the issuing of the licences in the area, in particular due to the potential impact on the Joyce Country & Western Lakes Geopark
