Paralympian achieves World Record Ferry pull at Rossaveel Harbour

A Monaghan Paralympian has achieved a World Record this morning at Rossaveel Harbour.

Amputee Shane Mc Loughlin has become the first man to pull the 120-tonne Saoirse na Fharraige ferry over 5 meters to add his name to the record books with Aran Islands Ferries providing the vessel.

Shane lost his leg in a farm accident and has competed as a Paralympian in shot putt for the past 6 years.

Speaking to Galway Bay FM News immediately after getting the World Record, Shane said that it was touch and go at one stage.
