Plug to be pulled on early morning Athenry to Galway train

The early morning 6.50am train from Athenry to Galway will not be made a permanent service and will be withdrawn in the coming months.

Galway East TD Louis O' Hara says the NTA has confirmed there's no funding in place for its continuation past August.

It says the service is a temporary one, facilitated by arrangements linked to the ongoing renewal of Ceannt Station.

Deputy O' Hara adds they've also confirmed there's no funding in place either for the long-sought new bus service from Athenry to Galway.

Sinn Fein Deputy O' Hara says it beggars belief that things seem to be going backwards.
