A post-mortem examination is due to take place at UHG this morning on the body of a woman discovered in Clifden yesterday
The woman, aged in her 30's, was found after Gardaí attended what they described as an emergency at a residential property on the Galway Road.
She's been named as Masuma Sohrabi, known locally as Atijafari, and the mother-of-two came to Ireland from Iran in 2024
A man in his 30's remains under arrest and is continuing to receive medical treatment.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Galway Road area of Clifden between 2pm on Wednesday 27th May and 9am on Thursday 28th May 2026, and who may have noticed anything suspicious is asked to come forward.
Road users and those with camera footage, (including home security and dash-cam), in the area at the time, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
