President Catherine Connolly has used a speech to University of Galway graduates to criticise the college over its ties to an Israeli IT.
The President was the guest of honour at a reception to launch the Dublin branch of the University of Galway graduates group this week.
The Campus Anti Genocide coalition have long been calling on the University to cease their research collaboration with Technion, holding several protests in the past year.
Several high profile people have also handed back their doctorates over the matter, while the joint winners of the University's Nelson Mandela Anti-Racism Award also returned their awards.
The Irish Independent reports President Connolly spoke of concerns being raised by both staff and students at the University over its partnership with Israeli IT Technion.
President Connolly - a graduate of the university - said 'These concerns cannot be ignored, given our obligations under national and international law.'
