President Connolly officially opens restored buildings at Connemara's Kylemore Abbey

President Catherine Connolly has officially opened the restored Labourers’ Bothy and Toolshed at Kylemore Abbey in Connemara.

Located at the heart of the Victorian Walled Garden, they were central to daily life on the Kylemore Estate when it was built by Mitchell Henry in the 1860s.

The milestone marks 25 years since the Garden’s award-winning restoration.

Many of those involved in the original restoration attended today's launch, alongside members of the Benedictine Community.

President Connolly praised the Community's work, led by Sister Magdalena.

The President also planted a heritage strawberry tree and was presented with a young oak sapling grown in Kylemore Abbey’s native tree nursery.
