A demonstration was held at University of Galway this afternoon, against the fact that the top jobs no longer require candidates to be fluent in Irish.
Irish ceased to be a requirement for the role of President in 2017 - and an active listing for Deputy-President and Registrar does not list any language requirements.
Today's action was organised by Misneach, who claim it's a further stifling of Irish within an institution that claims to support the language.
Saoirse Duhan was at the Quad building this afternoon to speak to some of the protestors.
