Public events in Portumna as part of National Famine Commemoration

Free public lunchtime events are taking place in Portumna tomorrow and Friday as part of the National Famine Commemoration.

Tomorrow's event at Portumna Courthouse at 12.30pm will explore the archaeology of the famine.

While Friday's event at the same time and place will see Garda Chief Superintendent Gerry Roche will speak on the life and political career of his great-grandfather, MP John Roche.

It comes as the National Famine Commemoration will take place at the former Portumna Workhouse on Sunday, with the Taoiseach to be in attendance.
