Galway Bay fm newsroom - A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Galway

The weather alert from MET Eireann comes as heavy rain is forecast for Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Sligo and Clare.

The national forecaster says there will be periods of heavy rain today and tomorrow, with accumulations of up to 80mm in places

The highest rainfall levels are expected on high ground in the west of the county.

Today, a number of county parades were called off due to heavy rain and strong winds.
