Refusal for plan to replace derelict Moycullen buildings with apartments

Planning permission has been refused for a proposal to demolish derelict buildings in Moycullen and replace them with apartment blocks.

The plans led by Limekin Construction Ltd were for a site fronting into Clifden Road, occupied by two derelict two storey homes and a car garage.

The site would've been cleared to make way for 3 apartment blocks, between 3 and 5 storeys in height.

There'd be 25 units overall, in a mix of duplex and single story apartments, as well as 3 retail units.

Access would have been from a revised vehicular site entrance from Clifden Road, with new cycle and walking paths.

But County planners have refused permission - holding it would amount to overdevelopment, and led to potential traffic issues.

The developer now has four weeks to take an appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála, if it so choses.
