Saolta Chief says hospitals under significant pressure

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Head of the Saolta Hospital Group says hospitals are under 'significant pressure' as Covid admissions in the region continue to rise.

Saolta comprises of six hospitals across seven sites including Galway's public hospitals.

Yesterday, there were six patients with Covid 19 receiving treatment at UHG, with a further four at Portiuncula Hospital.

There are now 141 patients with the virus in hospitals nationwide - compared to 38 just over a month ago.

Saolta Chief Executive Tony Canavan says he's expecting the numbers to grow further.
