Senator Sean Kyne has confirmed he intends to seek a nomination from Party members in Galway West to represent Fine Gael in the upcoming by-election.
The party's selection convention takes place on the 22nd of February, with Senator Kyne likely to compete against City Councillor Eddie Hoare for the nomination.
He served as a TD up until 2020, and recently missed out on reelection in the 2024 election , finishing 7th in Galway west.
Hailing from Moycullen, Kyne was Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands and has since become Leader of the Seanad.

There are 7 candidates confirmed to contest the bye election, which will take place in May.
