Galway Bay fm newsroom - Searches for new homes in Galway have increased by 127% year-on-year.

That's according to data collected by property website Daft.ie which examines the first three months of 2017.

The most sought after areas in Galway are listed as Roscam, Knocknacarra, Craughwell, Bohermore and Galway city centre.

The study shows that the average house price is now €253,000 - that's an increase of 57% from the lowest point.

Martin Clancy of Daft.ie says the sharp rise in Galway points may be a result of the help-to-buy scheme for first time buyers.
