Significant pipe replacement works get underway in Tuam

Works to upgrade a section of the pipe watermains networks in Tuam are underway from this morning. (6/1)

The works are taking place along 350m of the Dublin Road, from Rinkippeen to the Garraun Park Junction.

Uisce Eireann says areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact, with traffic management in place.

The works may involve some short term water disruptions, but local residents will be given 48 hours notice.

Enda Mac Namara, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said that customers in Tuam can look forward to a more secure and reliable supply of drinking water as a result of these works.

“The replacement of these water mains will improve the resilience of the network, eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean water lost into the ground,” said Enda.

“We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience in advance as we carry out these essential works.”

Farrans Construction is carrying out these works under Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
