Status yellow high temp warning continues for Galway until 6 this evening

A status yellow high temperature warning is continuing for Galway and seven other counties today.

It's in place for Galway, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Laois and Offaly until 6 this evening.

Maximum temperatures in excess of 27 degrees are forecast today, and we're being warned the heat comes with risks.

Met Éireann is warning of heat stress, water safety risks at lakes and beaches, and the potential for forest fires.

It's advising people to avoid the midday sun, stay hydrated, and take extra care near water.
