Strong increase in new Galway .ie website registrations

There's been a continued strong increase in the number of new .ie websites being registered in Galway.

Figures from the .ie Domain Snapshot shows almost 14 thousand local businesses now have .ie websites.

There are now 13,932 .ie domains registered in Galway, and there was 2,373 new registrations last year.

That's a 2.5 percent increase in the total database, and a 6.5 percent increase in new registrations.

Nationally, there are now 333 thousand .ie domains, up 2 percent on this time last year.

Construction was the most common sector, followed by Utilities, Communication & Information, and Arts, Entertainment & Recreation.

On a lighter note, the longest domain name last year was registered in Mayo - and good luck typing this in.

It's "Oh the green and red of Mayo I can see it still its soft and craggy bogland sits.ie"
