The Tánaiste has agreed that there needs to be another look at footpath funding, following a plea from a local Fine Gael TD in the Dáil.
Galway East Deputy Pete Roche said there's no dedicated funding for these works in local councils - and it effect, it means many vital works are not being done.
Tánaiste Simon Harris agreed that the broader issue, of encouraging active travel in rural areas in particular, needs some examination.
