The 14-day rate for Ballinasloe is 761 cases per 100 thousand people, while the figure for Tuam is 612.

That compares to the national average of 493 cases per 100 thousand.

All other areas in Galway are below that figure.

Galway City East is 477, Loughrea is 461, Galway City West is 418, Galway City Central is 382, Athenry-Oranmore is 372, and Gort-Kinvara is 272.

Connemara North and Connemara South have the lowest figures in the county, with 151 and 150 cases per 100 thousand people respectively.

Nationally, Waterford City South has by far the highest rate in the country at three times the national average.
