UHG among worst in Ireland for ambulance turnaround times

Galway Bay fm newsroom - UHG was one of the worst performing hospitals in the country for ambulance turnaround in January.

New figures reveal that continuing delays at emergency departments have led to just five of 34 hospitals hitting official targets for ambulance turnaround times.

Large numbers of ambulances had to wait more than an hour at UHG, Mayo General Hospital, South Tipperary General Hospital, and Cork University Hospital in January.

According to the Irish Times, the worst performers in terms of reaching the 20 minute target – Cork and Galway – also experienced significant ED overcrowding in January.
