Galway wind farms will pay under €5 million in rates to Galway county Council this year.
That's according to rates data compiled by Halpins on behalf of wind energy Ireland.
The data also shows that wind farms contribute nearly 11.5% of all commercial rates paid to the council in 2026.
Nationally, wind farms will provide almost €75 million in commercial rates to county councils, with 9 councils getting more than 10% of commercial rates from the sustainable energy.
Justin Moran, Director of External Affairs at Wind Energy Ireland, says they want to build more wind farms in Galway.
