Work on multiple flood relief projects is underway in Monivea.

The works involve installing soakpits at areas prone to flooding, which will allow excess rainwater to be more easily drained into the ground.

Work at Fr Sammon Hall in the village is ongoing, while a soakpit has been successfully installed outside Monivea Abbey GAA pitch.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Seán Broderick says that work will also start on the Monivea-Galway road outside the cemetery in the coming weeks.
