Wreath laying in Eyre Square for US Presidents Day interrupted by anti-war protest

A wreath laying ceremony in Eyre Square this afternoon to mark US Presidents Day was interrupted by an anti-war protest.

The annual event at the JFK memorial plaque drew a small crowd, including Deputy Mayor of Galway Alan Cheevers and a representative from the Defence Forces.

But anti-war protesters interrupted the event, claiming it's not appropriate given geo-political realities.

Our reporter Saoirse Duhan was there to capture what happened.
