Galway's Sinn Fein TDs are demanding a meeting with the Health Minister and Taoiseach over the chaotic confusion around a planned elective hospital at Merlin Park.
In recent days, it's been a rollercoaster - and it all stemmed from inaccurate information supplied by the HSE to Galway West TD John Connolly.
The HSE has apologised and scrambled to give an assurance that nothing is scrapped or downgraded, and everything is proceeding as planned.
Matters weren't helped by further mixed messaging on beds at the facility.
But that too has been settled with confirmation that a draft plan in 2018 had 200 beds, but a revised plan in place since 2021 is for a same-day, low complexity surgery facility without beds.
Galway West TD Mairead Farrell and Galway East TD Louis O' Hara still believe an urgent meeting with Taoiseach Micheal Martin and Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeil is warranted.
Deputy Farrell says cast iron guarantees are now needed at the highest level.
